Hello! This event concluded on March 31st, but you can watch the live recording of the event on Facebook until April 29th! You can also watch this event prerecorded on YouTube. A 2 minute video introduction is just below to get a vibe for the event. It includes original music, trans voices across the state, critical state resources, and how to keep hope in todays landscape. It's just over an hour long! 

Intro

​Hello! The Raise the Trans Flag event is a North Dakota digital event for Transgender Day of Visibility (March 31st) that does three things:

  1. Share or Print Out our Event Info!

  2. Encourages everyone to change their social media profile pictures to the transgender flag (🏳️‍⚧️)  from March 24 through 31st. You can use the ones below or your own!
    ​
  3. Ends on March 31st at 9:00 PM with a video from trans people across North Dakota celebrating the joy of being themselves. 
The purpose of this event is to share the joy, talent, and life of many trans people who call our state home. Not every town celebrates Transgender Day of Visibility and many trans youth don't have any adults they can look up to in local communities. This event is intended to spread hope all across North Dakota!

Event Sponsors

This was the first year the Raise the Trans Flag has taken sponsors. The intention was to help raise money for trans individuals, promote trans affirming organizations in our state, and spread hope through that connection. 

PFund Foundation - $2500

Imagine Therapy is a mental health group practice that provides therapy for mental and behavioral health needs. This is a collective of Near and Far Counseling, Rewilding Therapy, Sara Stallman, and Rose Counseling.

Sour House Breads is a home-based artisan bakery located in Fargo, North Dakota. It specializes in naturally leavened sourdough breads, as well as bagels, biscotti, brioche, and other specialty items. ​

Magic City Equality - $150

Magic City Equality educates the general public and the LGBTQ2S+ community in northwestern and north-central North Dakota about LGBTQ2S+ culture, current events and community concerns.

Week of visibility - March 24th to March 31st

Fundraising
I will be collecting funding from people to give to the trans people who have submitted videos and groups that serve trans youth across the state. All funding will be split evenly between the folks who contribute and those organizations as mutual aid. Each contributor may opt out. These contributions can be given directly to Faye through Venmo or email her about other options. 

Share Messages of Positivity
When​ you upload your picture, encourage others to do the same. Also, leave a personal message about why you feel compelled to participate in this event.

  • Example: I'm changing my profile picture as part of Raise the Trans Flag event happening until the 31st. I'm doing this because I want the trans people in my life to know that I support them and I stand against the horrible attacks we've seen against the trans community. 

  • Example: I have friends and family who are trans, I'm changing my profile picture as part of Raise the Trans Flag Event to show them that I love and support them.

EVENT hISTORY 

Fundraising Live Stream - Elden Ring Marathon
I'll be raising money through an Elden Ring Marathon stream to give as mutual aid to trans folks and trans youth serving orgs.

Video Submissions

If you're interested in submitting a video or picture, we're looking for:

  • Videos that are approximately 1-2 minutes in length
  • Videos should talk about who you are, what your profession or hobby is, or something that is your favorite thing - up to your interpretation! 
  • You can submit art or pictures for this to accompany your video or standalone
  • You'll get 10 dollars venmo/paypal if you participate/contribute to the event with video/pictures.
  • Soft Deadline is March 24th

This is obviously a public event, so please only share and participate if you're comfortable in being out! ​This event will be similar to the Transgender Night of Hope event, but only open to trans, gender diverse, and enby folks.

Event Sponsorships

If you'd like to be part of this event by contributing money as your organization, there are open sponsorships to do so. Sponsorship in this event functions as purchasing advertisement for your organization to be featured in the online video event - Raise the Trans Flag. 

All profit raised during this event will be contributed as mutual aid to all participating trans community members and trans youth serving orgs that opt in.
