Current Situation

The current situation suggests that Fargo/Moorhead will not be hit with the same kind of occupation tactics that have happened across MN. There has been many false reports on ICE presents in the area and trolls have taken to making false reports across the normal ICE reporting channels. At present, folks should be cautious about any reporting of ICE activity. 

That isn't to ignore the risk that it can happen. Individuals should safety plan accordingly and be ready to act in the event there is raids within the city. However, short of video evidence or multiple confirmed sources, any spotting is likely not actually ICE, not the kind of ICE occupation happening in MN, or not real. 

At present, there are a lot of protests still happening, punk shows, and trainings to be a witness to any ICE activity. These trainings can help folks feel more comfortable and confidence when interacting with ICE officers. However, even witnessing their activities in legal and non-disruptive ways can result in being targeted in harmful ways. 

I recommend follow Fargo Undergrounds ICE CRISIS GUIDE as well and sharing that! Also, all information on this page was taken from public facing locations. I am not involved with anything listed on this page. I'm recording it for informational and historical purposes.

Below was posted from Jan 12th to Jan 28th as ICE occupation intensify after the killing of Renee Good. After the killing of Alex Pretti and the intense backlash to this, with growing frustration with ICE occupation and stories of horror across the state and subsequent protests, the operational director for ICE was removed, the president indicated ICE would be reigned in, and the intensity and spread seems to be slowing down.

URGENT - ICe Activity in Fargo/Moorhead Resources

Fargo-Moorhead is expecting ICE raids to occur, similar to what everyone is hearing about across Minnesota right now. The intensity of those raids or if they will come to the Fargo-Moorhead community isn't clear at this time, but isn't impossible. Some ICE sightings have occurred close to us and in our community, but may not be directly connected to the larger MN operation taking place. If there is any significant operation that pops up in Fargo/Moorhead, I will post on social media and here. 

Everyone at this time is asked to safety plan, prepare according with resources below, and know your rights. The understanding across Minnesota at this time is BIPOC folks are targeted regardless of legal status. The purpose of this page and sharing these resources is to reduce public panic in the event there are operations and reduce the risk to everyone. As well as to encourage civic action and exercise legal rights.
