Summary

The Transgender Night of Hope is a sister event to the Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR). It typically takes place towards 9:00 PM on November 20th every year. This event serves to create a space to share hope, inspire resiliency, and create warm memories that trans folks can hold onto as they head into the winter months.
The purpose of this event is to help offset how heavy traditional TDOR events can be, where they invite folks to think about the extreme violence and loss that happen to trans people. While a difficult time in itself, it's also just before the holidays, which can be very triggering and stressful moments of the year. While some TDOR events do serve as a point of connection and a necessary vigil to loss, not all of them are careful in the ways they engage with the traumatic events. The Transgender Night of Hope doesn't seek to replace TDOR, but to provide an alternative and healing space for trans people they can turn to regardless.

I invite anyone to take up this event in your own area. I hope this event becomes something nationally celebrated in the same way TDOR can be. I want there to be hopeful events associated with trans people, instead of strictly focusing on the awful.
